Police vs boxing world champ: Scandal everyone is talking about

Legendary American boxer Terence Crawford found himself in a very unpleasant situation in his hometown of Omaha. The undisputed world champion in the super welterweight division was held at gunpoint by US police for several minutes. Here's what happened and the aftermath of the incident.
Parade and trouble
Omaha hosted a parade in Crawford's honor. Residents celebrated the hometown hero's victory over superstar Saul Canelo Alvarez in a historic championship bout. It was also the boxer's birthday. He turned 38 on September 28.
However, the evening ended in scandal for Crawford. Police stopped his vehicle, ordered him and his passengers out at gunpoint, and conducted a search.
Social media immediately filled with speculation about police misconduct and possible racial undertones. The Omaha police chief promised an internal investigation to clarify the circumstances.

What the police explained
Later, the local police department provided a reason for the aggressive approach.
"While speaking with the driver, an officer observed a firearm on the driver's side floorboard. For safety, all four occupants were ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. The driver was later identified as Mr. Crawford upon verification of his driver's license and was issued a citation for reckless driving," the official statement read.
It was noted that Crawford's bodyguard, who also had a firearm, was in the car.
However, police confirmed that all passengers were legally allowed to possess firearms.
