Poland has expressed regret over the US decision to pause shipments of ammunition and missiles to Ukraine, stressing the importance of continued support amid ongoing Russian aggression, according to a statement by Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, quoted by the Polish outlet tvn24.pl.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz expressed concern over the US decision to suspend the supply of ammunition and missiles to Ukraine.

The official stressed that this is not good news for Poland, as Ukraine is currently defending itself against Russian aggression, and continued support is crucial to help it endure. He also noted that European countries are making efforts to strengthen their aid to Ukraine.

He reportedly said he regretted the US move and would have preferred the opposite approach.

Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that Russia shows no willingness to engage in peace talks, agree to a ceasefire, or halt hostilities. That is why, in his view, support for Ukraine must remain a priority for both Poland and the whole of Europe.

He added that continued, determined support for Ukraine is in the interest of both Poland and Europe.

Earlier, expert Michael Pfeiffer said the pause in US arms deliveries reflects a weak position on the issue.

Weapons pause

On Wednesday, July 2, it became known that the US had suspended certain arms deliveries to Ukraine, including critical Patriot air defense missiles.

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said the move was made under the “America First” principle.

The media published a list of US weapons that never made it to Ukraine.
