Poland will not shoot down missiles and drones over Ukraine, General Staff says
Poland will not intercept missiles or drones flying over Ukrainian territory. Poland's stance, as well as other allies, remains unchanged on this issue, according to Rzeczpospolita, citing the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.
In particular, the Polish General and the Chief of the General Staff, Wiesław Kukuła, made such a statement.
The Polish high-ranking military official emphasized that their armed forces, as well as allied armies, won't assist Ukraine in intercepting missiles or drones flying over Ukrainian territory. Currently, the Polish military is focused on protecting the airspace within their country's borders.
Discussions on shooting Russian missiles over Ukraine
Following this, the Polish Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, emphasized that any decision regarding this issue would require consultations with NATO partners.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, noted that the potential interception of Russian missiles over Ukraine by NATO forces might be discussed at an upcoming meeting of NATO member state ministers.
Meanwhile, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans stressed that allowing allies to intercept Russian missiles and drones over Ukraine could have more risks than benefits.
