Ukraine is not at a deadlock in the peace process. Negotiations with partners on security guarantees and other important issues are continuing, said First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya.

"This is not a dead end. This is where we stand today, in circumstances where the leadership of a dictatorial country shows no signs of willingness to engage in peace talks, despite all the audio spam coming from Peskov, Zakharova, and others,” Kyslytsya said.

According to him, this does not mean that negotiations between Ukraine and its partners on security guarantees and "other important matters that can be addressed regardless of whether Russia is currently ready for genuine peace talks" have stopped or reached a deadlock.

The First Deputy Minister emphasized that Ukraine, together with its partners, should not wait for peace to establish a strong army as one of the elements of security guarantees, to produce weapons, or to rebuild the country’s economy.

He added that Ukraine’s membership in the EU should be part of its security guarantees.

"This is not just a whim or a political aspiration. We see it as part of Ukraine’s economic stability and strength, because the EU is primarily about economy and trade," Kyslytsya explained.

He also noted that an important factor that made discussions with partners more substantive was the confirmation of the United States’ readiness to be part of the security guarantees.

"Because many things, including in the military and politico-military spheres, are impossible without American support. There was no point in discussing them if European countries were not confident that the Americans were with us," the First Deputy Minister emphasized.

Security guarantees for Ukraine

On September 4, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the countries of the Coalition of the Willing have completed preparations for security guarantees for Ukraine.

According to him, 26 countries are already ready to send their soldiers to Ukraine or support such a mission.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on the possible deployment of foreign troops to Ukraine, noted that this would involve thousands of soldiers.

Recently, Zelenskyy reported that the basic document on security guarantees for Ukraine is almost ready, with details being worked out with all partners.

Additionally, Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya said that Ukraine is making progress in negotiations to formalize legally binding security guarantees with the US and European allies.

Furthermore, according to Zelenskyy, Trump will provide Ukraine with security guarantees after the war ends.
