Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán took offense at remarks by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about a 'smack upside the head to Viktor,' according to a statement by Orbán on X.
In his post, the Hungarian prime minister accused Zelenskyy of allegedly being unable or unwilling to end the war in Ukraine. He also described the Ukrainian president’s words as carefully chosen insults.
In addition, Orbán once again stated that Hungary would not provide military assistance to Kyiv.
At the same time, he said that the Ukrainian people can still count on supplies of electricity and fuel from Hungary, as well as support for refugees.
“Life itself will settle the rest, and everyone will get what they deserve,” the Hungarian politician said.

Earlier today, January 22, Zelenskyy said during a speech in Davos that “Every 'Viktor' who lives off European money while trying to sell out European interests deserves a smack upside the head,” referring to Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán.
Orbán’s statements
Earlier, Orbán said he expects the war in Ukraine to end by 2027. In his view, sanctions against Russia would then be lifted, as the EU’s plans to ban Russian oil and gas are extremely harmful for Hungary.
Previously, Orbán urged citizens to support his Fidesz party in the 2026 parliamentary elections. In his statements, he said this was necessary to ensure that Hungary does not get drawn into the war.
On December 31, Orbán suggested that in 2026, the US could make peace with Russia while ignoring both Ukraine and Europe. He emphasized that Hungary plans to gain significant benefits from the normalization of relations between the US and Russia.
