Kremlin makes cynical statement on energy truce with Ukraine: 'Achilles' heel'

Russia does not want a truce
According to Peskov, an energy truce with Ukraine is not currently under substantive discussion.
Putin's spokesperson also remarked that energy infrastructure is Ukraine’s weak spot.
"Kyiv is now proposing not a long-term settlement, but a truce in the area that is their Achilles’ heel — in energy," he said.
He also claimed that Russia favors a "peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine."
Peskov’s other statements
Peskov also said that Russian forces are systematically striking targets in Ukraine in response to attacks by Kyiv.
"The situation on the ground is getting increasingly worse for Ukraine," he said.
Putin’s ally added that Abu Dhabi remains on the agenda as a venue for trilateral peace talks, provided the matter reaches the point of substantive discussion.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that, according to Peskov, Russia was ready for a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine. However, he said that further developments would depend on Kyiv’s position.
It was also reported that the Kremlin had issued a new statement on peace talks following the visit of US envoys to Moscow and Kyiv. Peskov said that Russia did not rule out resuming trilateral negotiations on Ukraine.
