Kremlin says Russia is 'ready' for peace with Ukraine but puts responsibility on Kyiv

Russia is allegedly ready for a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine, but further developments depend on Kyiv's position, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said while speaking to reporters.
"All experts are aware of the dynamics on the front — we are moving forward. But at any moment, we are ready to make peace. It depends on Kyiv. That is the reality," the Kremlin spokesman claimed.
Peskov also said that Russia expects trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine on ending the war to resume.
According to him, serious work is underway, with US negotiators spending a great deal of time and effort during visits to Moscow and Kyiv.
"We hope that there will be certain progress in this regard. We expect negotiations in a trilateral format — involving Russia, Ukraine and the United States — to resume," the Kremlin spokesman said.
On Saturday, September 5, US President's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The meeting in the Kremlin lasted about three hours. At the beginning of the talks, Putin said that the situation in Ukraine was complicated.
Yesterday, Peskov said that Russia allegedly highly appreciates the US side's peace efforts.
According to the Kremlin spokesman, Putin personally thanked US President Donald Trump for his efforts toward peace.
