The European Union's plan for achieving peace in Ukraine contains only two points: namely, weakening Russia and supporting Ukraine, states the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
"The European Union has always supported a just, lasting and comprehensive peace. Today, we discussed, of course, the latest developments, and Minister Sybiha briefed us on Ukraine's perspective," she said.
Kallas emphasized that "for any peace plan to succeed," it must have the support of both the European Union and Ukraine.
"The EU has a very clear two-point plan: first, weaken Russia; second, support Ukraine," the EU foreign affairs chief stated.
According to her, today, on November 20, the head of the European Intelligence Centre and the EU’s envoy on sanctions discussed the impact of EU sanctions on Russia.
Their data show that Russian crude oil exports have fallen to their lowest level in recent months, while tax revenues have dropped to the lowest level since the start of the full-scale war.
"Russia has repeatedly paid lip service for peace talks, and previous talks fell apart because Russia never made any real commitments. The pressure must be on the aggressor, not on the victim," Kallas stressed.
US peace plan
Today, November 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially received a draft plan from the United States and plans to discuss it with Donald Trump in the near future.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported two additional key demands of the US peace plan. Specifically, these reportedly include lifting international sanctions and halting processes that document Russian crimes against Ukraine’s civilian population and infrastructure.
Western media, citing their own sources, reported that the document allegedly consists of 28 points and effectively envisages Ukraine’s capitulation. In particular, Kyiv is reportedly being asked to give up the Donbas, half of its army, and more.
