The drone incident in Dublin during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may be related to the fact that the EU is actively discussing the fate of Russian assets, states Irish Prime Minister Michéal Martin, according to The Guardian.

Martin said that the possible targeting of Zelenskyy’s plane "fits the established pattern of similar disruption incidents that have taken place in other European states."

According to the Prime Minister, one of his colleagues recently stated that accidents occur on an individual basis, but over a certain period, patterns can be observed. This is exactly what is being seen in EU countries, where drone-related provocations have become a regular occurrence.

"And of course, you know, we have some very serious issues on our agenda. As Antonio (António Costa, President of the European Council) has said, the entire issue of the future financing of Ukraine, the utilisation of immobilised assets, which is a very big issue for Russia. And I don’t believe what’s happening is just coincidental, put it that way," the Irish Prime Minister emphasized.

Incident involving Zelenskyy’s plane

Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Dublin.

Later, Irish media reported that unidentified drones had followed the flight path of the Ukrainian leader’s plane, though the visit was not disrupted.

Afterward, the drones were seen circling one of Ireland’s naval ships, which had been deployed in the Irish Sea.

The Irish police launched an investigation into the incident after the country’s defense forces reported it to law enforcement.
