Norway to transfer additional NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine
Norway will provide Ukraine with additional NASAMS air defense systems worth NOK 335 million ($30 million), according to the Norwegian government.
Some systems are being shipped from the country's warehouses to ensure fast delivery to Ukraine, while others will be ordered from manufacturers.
"Air defense is a crucial part of Ukraine's defense. The Ukrainian government has always demanded and prioritized more support for air defense," says Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
Norway's assistance to Ukraine
In October, Norway announced financial assistance for demining in Ukraine. The amount is $18.5 million.
Later, Norway provided one billion kroner (84 million euros) to Norwegian organizations helping Ukrainians.
Recently, Ukrainian border guards received a mobile radiation monitoring complex from Norway. It will be used in high-threat areas to check the radiation situation.
Norway has also announced the allocation of 200 million Norwegian kroner (17 million euros) to the World Food Program, including the humanitarian food program Grain from Ukraine.
In addition, the UK and Norway have led a new maritime coalition to help Ukraine. The new grouping of countries will supply ships and other vehicles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strengthen its maritime warfare capabilities.
