Norway to send F-35s and NASAMS to Poland for protection of Ukraine weapons supply hub
Norway will take responsibility for the defense of a key hub for transporting civilian and military supplies from other countries to Ukraine, located in Poland, according to The Guardian.
According to the agency, this month Norway will assume responsibility for air defense at the key hub for transporting civilian and military supplies to Ukraine.
"This way, Norway contributes to ensuring that aid to Ukraine reaches its destination, allowing Ukraine to continue its fight for freedom," said the country's Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
He noted that Norway will "safeguard" the airspace over the Rzeszów airport in Poland and will send about 100 soldiers, in addition to air defense systems and fighter jets.
"Poland is making a tremendous effort to ensure that both civilian and military supplies reach Ukraine. The airport is also central to the medical evacuation efforts that Norway is responsible for," Gram emphasized.
Aid supplies to Ukraine via Poland
Poland plays a key role in the supply of military aid to Ukraine from international partners. The main logistics routes for the transportation of weapons, equipment and humanitarian aid pass through its territory. In particular, Poland provides its logistics centers for the storage and distribution of military cargo.
Additionally, the country is actively working to ensure the security of these supplies, involving allies to strengthen defense capabilities, such as deploying additional air defense systems and supporting international coordination.
Recently, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Norway had agreed to protect a key transit hub for foreign military aid to Ukraine. It is located in Poland.
