Ukraine's military has released its latest daily estimate of Russian combat losses in the war, covering personnel and military equipment destroyed or disabled over the past 24 hours.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 28, 2026 are estimated to be:
- Personnel ‒ nearly 1,483,780 (+1,630)
- Tanks ‒ 12,307 (+3)
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,237
- Special equipment ‒ 4,604 (+2)
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 140,741 (+493)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,420 (+16)
- Artillery systems ‒ 48,749 (+55)
- MLRS ‒ 2,067 (+2)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,593 (+3)
- Aircraft ‒ 440
- Helicopters ‒ 354
- UAVs (operational-tactical level) ‒ 485,024 (+1,657)
- Cruise missiles ‒ 5,060 (+8)
- Warships and boats ‒ 35

Frontline situation
Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to advance in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions despite attempts by the Russian army to halt their offensive operations, says ISW in the latest report.
Meanwhile, the NYT reports Ukraine's Delta system combines data from drones, radio intercepts, and satellite imagery into a single platform that detects and assigns targets among thousands of reconnaissance and strike drones. This technology has played a significant role in helping stop Russia's advance.
