North Korea preparing to supply Russia with more ballistic missiles - US at UN
North Korea is preparing to deliver a new batch of ballistic missiles to Russia, adding to the more than 100 already supplied, which Russia has used in attacks on Ukraine, stated US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Robert Wood during a UN Security Council meeting.
"The DPRK is preparing to transfer even more ballistic missiles," Wood said.
He also noted that Pyongyang had previously illegally supplied Russia with over 18,000 containers of ammunition and related materials, as well as more than 100 ballistic missiles, "all of which have been used to strike populated areas like Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia".
Wood also emphasized that the US has information indicating that Russia is using a significant number of 170-mm self-propelled artillery systems and 240-mm multiple rocket launchers produced by North Korea on the front lines.
According to him, in exchange, Russia has provided North Korea with air defense systems. Additionally, Pyongyang is receiving other supplies, including fuel, technology, and dual-use equipment.
North Korea-Russia cooperation
Recently, The New York Times reported that Russia has received new shipments of ballistic missiles from North Korea, specifically Hwasong-11 short-range missiles.
Moreover, Russia has already used these missiles in attacks on Kyiv earlier this summer.
Separately, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, stated that North Korea’s artillery ammunition supplies to Russia are creating significant challenges for Ukrainian forces on the front lines. Furthermore, these deliveries are followed by escalations in combat activities.
