North Korea conducts 3rd round of cruise missile launches within week
North Korea has launched several cruise missiles into the sea from its western coast for the third time this week, according to Yonhap.
The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) announced that they had detected the launch of cruise missiles from North Korea's western coast. The number of missiles was not specified.
This marks the third missile launch by North Korea in a week. It is noted that the intelligence services of South Korea and the United States are closely monitoring the situation.
"While strengthening our monitoring and vigilance, our military has been closely coordinating with the United States to monitor additional signs of North Korea's provocations," the JCS statement said.
Provocations by North Korea
Recent statements by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un indicate his willingness and readiness to start a war with South Korea.
The New York Times has reported that the United States anticipates the possibility of military action between North Korea and South Korea in the coming months.
However, as reported by the media, Pyongyang has a significant reason not to escalate the conflict, as the economic growth rates of North Korea have reached their highest level in almost a decade due to arms sales to Russia.
The White House stated that North Korea was attempting to develop long-range ballistic missiles and continues to work on military production.
