North Korea announces testing of new cruise missiles
North Korea conducted test launches of cruise missiles called Pulhwasal-3-31 from a submarine, according to Yonhap.
The new strategic cruise missile allegedly hit the specified targets, flying over the Yellow Sea for two hours and three minutes.
South Korean military stated that they detected the launch of several cruise missiles over waters near the port city of Sinpo, where a shipyard for the construction of North Korean submarines is located.
Aggressive policy of North Korea
In recent weeks, the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, has made a series of statements indicating his desire and readiness to start a war with South Korea. However, as reported by the media, Pyongyang has a significant reason not to escalate the conflict, as the pace of North Korea's economic growth has reached its highest level in nearly a decade due to arms sales to Russia.
Against the backdrop of the escalation, North Korea conducted launches of cruise missiles towards the Yellow Sea. It was also reported that Pyongyang launched a ballistic missile, causing concern in Japan.
The New York Times reported that the United States anticipates the possibility of military actions between North Korea and South Korea in the coming months.
