Poland's PM sees signs of possible pause in Russia-Ukraine war

The likelihood of a suspension of the Russian-Ukrainian war in the near future is high. However, this will not change Poland’s position, and the country must be ready for defense at any moment, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk states.
"There are decent chances and many signs that point to the possibility that the Russian-Ukrainian war will at least be suspended in the near future," he said at a press conference.
However, according to him, Poland must be ready for defense regardless of events on the Russian-Ukrainian front. “We cannot lose a single hour or day in this race for a modern army,” Tusk emphasized.
War is won by intellect and technology
The head of the Polish government held a meeting with the heads of the country’s military institutes. He emphasized the high level of preparation and competence of Polish engineers, programmers, and young specialists.
"This is an absolute treasure of the Polish army," said Tusk.
According to him, security in the future depends on what is born “in heads,” not only in barracks.
"Today, wars are won by smarter and better-equipped armies with a high level of technology," added the Prime Minister.
Polish money for Polish factories
Tusk also emphasized the importance of keeping defense investments within Poland. "From the Polish point of view, it is absolutely key that the hundreds of billions of zlotys we want to allocate to defense work as much as possible inside Poland," he stated.
He added that Poland cannot forever invest state funds in foreign weapons. In the Prime Minister’s opinion, it is necessary to support Polish companies and Polish minds.
Polish cyber command – one of the best in the world
The Prime Minister noted the high level of Polish specialists in the field of digital security. He stated that it is national teams that ensure the country’s cybersecurity.
"Our cybersecurity is handled by, perhaps, the best team in the world. Perhaps only the Americans can compete with us," Tusk noted.

Poland refused to transfer Soviet MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, stating that it needs them.
President Donald Trump on July 29 shortened the timeframe for Moscow to achieve progress in peace talks regarding Ukraine. Otherwise, in 10 days the U.S. will impose secondary tariffs of 100% on buyers of Russian oil.
