Ukrainian defenders managed to take control of an enemy position using drones and ground robotic systems. Infantry did not take part in the operation, states the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The head of the Ukrainian state noted that the "future is already on the front line" and that Ukraine is the one shaping it.
"For the first time in the history of this war, an enemy position was taken exclusively by unmanned platforms – ground systems and drones. The occupiers surrendered, and the operation was carried out without infantry and without losses on our side," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, Ukrainian robotic systems Ratel, TerMIT, Ardal, Rys, Zmiy, Protector, Volia, and others have carried out more than 22,000 missions in just three months.
"In other words, lives were saved more than 22,000 times when a robot went into the most dangerous areas instead of a warrior. This is about high technology protecting the highest value – human life," the president emphasized.
Rescuing prisoners using drones
At the end of March, the 225th Separate Assault Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian defenders had used drones to rescue two prisoners of war from the Russian troops.
The soldiers released a video showing drones trapping the enemy escort. The Ukrainian POWs were able to escape.
A few days earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that in March, robotic systems completed 50% more tasks than in February.
