Russian forces dropped fake banknotes from drones over several cities in the Sumy region, featuring calls to provide coordinates and overthrow the authorities for money, according to Hlukhiv City Council and a statement by Sumy regional governor Oleh Hryhorov.

Fake money was discovered in the morning in two districts of the Sumy region, in particular in Sumy, Hlukhiv, and Shostka.

The banknotes contain hostile messages. In particular:

  • Calls to provide coordinates of Ukrainian positions;
  • Offers to direct fire for a reward;
  • Calls to overthrow the current authorities.

The QR codes on the banknotes lead to hostile resources. The discovered items were seized for examination, and the information was confirmed by the police.

What to do if you find such money

The police and authorities urge people not to touch the banknotes and not to scan the QR codes. If you see suspicious objects, immediately call the police or the State Emergency Service.

Russians systematically use drones not only for strikes, but also for dropping suspicious objects. This time, it is another attempt at provocation and informational influence on the local population, local authorities say.

Meanwhile, the enemy continues to invent new ways of using drones. As previously reported, Russians began attaching mock-ups of R60 missiles to drones of the Shahed type.

The goal is to scare Ukrainian aviation and force interceptors to waste resources on non-existent threats.

There was also an incident with a drone equipped with a parachute flying over Kharkiv. However, as a serviceman explained, such devices are reconnaissance drones equipped with a parachute for safe landing, not a new type of threat to civilians.
