British Chief of the Defense Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin made a statement emphasizing the need to strengthen NATO's deterrence strategy in response to the growing threat posed by Russia. He stated that the world has entered a "new nuclear age," according to Sky News.

In a lecture at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London, he noted that while the likelihood of a direct attack by Russia on the UK or NATO is low, the Alliance must be prepared for any developments.

According to him, NATO's deterrence strategy is effective but requires enhancement due to the Kremlin's aggressive policies.

He also emphasized that nuclear deterrence remains a critical element of security, influencing Vladimir Putin's decisions.

Radakin stated that the world is now on the threshold of a "third nuclear age," characterized by an increase in the number of nuclear-armed states, new technologies, and the reduced effectiveness of existing security systems.

He also highlighted other global threats, including China's nuclear buildup, North Korea's ballistic missile programs, and Iran's nuclear ambitions. He urged NATO member states to work collectively on new security mechanisms.

Radakin stressed that the modern world is experiencing a crisis in international security systems, exacerbated by the proliferation of disruptive technologies and declining trust in international treaties.

It is worth recalling that the head of British intelligence recently outlined the catastrophic consequences of a victory for Vladimir Putin in Ukraine. Among these, he warned that if Putin succeeds in Ukraine, he will not stop and will target other countries.

Additionally, last month, US intelligence assessed Russia's nuclear threats.
