Trump weighs in on Zelenskyy and Putin’s meeting

US President Donald Trump stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin are in the process of arranging a bilateral meeting, reports Sky News.
According to Trump, a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin is necessary after he met with both of them separately.
“They're in the process of setting it up, but we've got to stop the killing, it's too much killing. I've saved hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of people, it's a good feeling,” Trump added.
He said his efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine are more instinctive than calculated. However, he expressed being a little optimistic about the peace efforts, while admitting that it’s complicated.
Trilateral meeting of Zelenskyy, Trump, and Putin
On August 18, Zelenskyy visited Washington for talks with US President Donald Trump, joined by European leaders for discussions.
On Friday, August 15, Trump met with Putin in Alaska. The meeting lasted about three hours, after which Putin almost immediately returned to Russia.
Trump later stated that he wants to hold a trilateral meeting with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia on Friday, August 22. However, Putin has not publicly committed to such a meeting.
European diplomats are considering several potential venues for the summit. Zelenskyy has expressed his willingness to participate in a trilateral format in any configuration if the meeting takes place. Russia, as usual, has begun setting certain conditions.
