Ukraine and Norway officially sign Drone Deal

Ukraine and Norway have agreed to step up cooperation in the field of unmanned systems and defense technologies. The parties have signed a corresponding agreement, which is expected to unlock new opportunities for joint production, according to a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi.
According to Koretskyi, the Drone Deal opens up new avenues for co-production and the advancement of defense technologies.
"Today, Ukraine and Norway signed a drone deal that strengthens cooperation between our defense sectors and opens up new opportunities for joint production and the development of defense technologies," the prime minister wrote on Telegram.
What else Ukraine and Norway discussed
During the meeting, the parties also discussed strengthening Ukraine's air defense, the country's preparations for winter, and its financial stability.
Koretskyi also separately thanked Norway for its decision to maintain support for Ukraine in 2027 under the Nansen program at a level of approximately $9 billion.
"Norway is one of Ukraine's key partners. Its contribution to our security and resilience cannot be overstated," the Ukrainian prime minister said.
Earlier, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stated in Kyiv that support for Ukraine next year would remain at the current year's level. He described it as record-high.
Zelenskyy called the agreement strategic
The signing of the document was also confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the Ukraine-Nordic-Baltic Eight summit in Kyiv.
According to the head of state, Ukraine and Norway have concluded a defense technology cooperation agreement, which the parties are calling a Drone Deal.

The agreement is expected to serve as the foundation for further cooperation between the two countries in the field of unmanned systems, joint production, and the development of defense technologies.
What is known about the successes of the Drone Deal
More than 20 countries want to join Ukraine's Drone Deal. Ukraine will not merely sell drones but will share combat experience and establish joint production facilities abroad, said National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.
For instance, the Netherlands and Denmark became the eighth and ninth countries to join the international Drone Deal agreement, and Norway became the tenth. This will allow the countries to jointly manufacture drones and develop cutting-edge technologies.
