Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a detailed report from the negotiation team on contacts with the US and instructed them to finalize a document on security guarantees for Ukraine from the United State, according to Zelenskyy’s post on Telegram.

Preparation for possible agreement signing

According to Zelenskyy, the sides discussed the schedule for the next two weeks, including planned meetings, document preparation, and the potential signing of agreements.

The President instructed that work on the security guarantees document be completed and submitted for review at the highest level.

"This should be a document of historic significance, and the text is currently reaching exactly that level," Zelenskyy emphasized.

Reconstruction and economic partnership

During the meeting, special attention was given to documents on Ukraine’s reconstruction and economic development. The President instructed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka, and Minister Oleksii Sobolev to ensure full oversight and expert review of all economic aspects of future agreements between Ukraine and the US, as well as trilateral arrangements in the Ukraine–Europe–America format.

Parameters for the use of reconstruction funds from international partners were also defined.

Position on Russia and sanctions pressure

Zelenskyy noted that the US side is in communication with Russia regarding a basic political framework for ending the war.

"We have outlined our vision, and there must be clear feedback from Russia on whether they are ready to end the war on real terms. If such readiness does not exist, pressure on the aggressor must continue to increase," the President emphasized.

He also highlighted the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet, financial schemes used to bypass restrictions, and the need to maximally limit Russia’s export revenues if the war continues.

Gratitude to international partners

Zelenskyy thanked all partners helping Ukraine protect the lives of its citizens and supporting diplomatic efforts to achieve a just peace.

"Thanks to everyone in the world who helps us safeguard lives in Ukraine and, despite everything, stay on the diplomatic track," the President concluded.

US peace plan

Ukraine continues negotiations on peace together with European and American partners. In particular, a Coalition of the Willing meeting at the leaders’ level took place in Paris, following which Kyiv, Paris, and London signed a declaration of intent regarding the deployment of a Western contingent on Ukrainian territory.

In addition, according to sources, Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump have agreed on the American peace plan by 90%. The document is expected to be submitted for a nationwide referendum in Ukraine.

On Wednesday, January 7, Kremlin special representative Kirill Dmitriev was seen in Paris. According to media reports, he was received at the US embassy. Axios reported that Trump’s advisors Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Dmitriev to discuss the American peace plan for Ukraine.
