Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, during a joint speech with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, stated that The United States will continue providing security assistance to Ukraine, while NATO will assume greater responsibilities in supporting the country.
"We see that all our allies support us. The US will continue its security assistance. NATO will take on more commitments in providing aid and ensuring training," the minister stated.
Trump’s Ukraine Policy
According to the Financial Times, European officials fear they may have to bear the costs of post-war security and reconstruction, as they have allegedly been excluded from peace talks between the US and Russia regarding Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that Kyiv and Europe must not be excluded from future peace negotiations on ending the full-scale war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has called Ukraine’s potential NATO membership “unlikely” and “impractical.” However, he suggested that aid would still be provided, but in a “secure” manner.
