NATO suggests Ukraine may be unable to dislodge all Russian forces by end of 2024
NATO assumes that Ukraine will probably not be able to dislodge all Russian forces from its territory by the end of 2024. However, Western allies assure that financial and military support for Kyiv will not decrease, according to Euractiv.
According to one of the NATO officials on condition of anonymity, Ukraine probably will not be able to expel all Russian troops from its territory by the end of 2024.
At the same time, as the agency notes, Western allies of Ukraine assure that financial and military support will not decrease, despite the war in the Middle East.
However, securing arms orders, especially missiles and ammunition, with the defense industry and promoting faster production "is not going quite as planned," three NATO diplomats say.
Military aid to Ukraine
Earlier the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, stated that the European Union and NATO needed to cooperate in the issue of arms production in order to meet the needs of Ukraine.
At the beginning of May, the Council of the European Union adopted a decision on aid for Ukraine in the amount of one billion euros for the joint procurement of ammunition and missiles. It was planned that European countries would provide Ukraine with one million shells.
Bloomberg later wrote that the EU is falling behind on its plan to provide Ukraine with one million artillery shells in March 2024. So far, it is only 30% completed.
It was also reported that against the background of fears in the EU about falling behind the schedule of supplying artillery shells to Ukraine, the option that they would be purchased in countries that were not in the European Union was allowed.
Yesterday, the head of the British Foreign Ministry, David Cameron, said that NATO member countries should convince arms production companies to increase the volume of production of their products to meet the needs of Ukraine within the next two years.
