In Estonian airspace, from November 3 to 9, NATO fighter jets will conduct training flights, some of which will take place at low altitudes, ERR reports.

According to reports, a series of training flights in Estonian airspace will take place throughout the week between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM. Whenever possible, the fighter jets will stay away from populated areas in Estonia.

During the training flights, supersonic flights may also be conducted in coordination with the Estonian Civil Aviation Authority and at altitudes specifically designated for this purpose.

The allies’ training flights are carried out in accordance with Estonian legislation.

It is noted that NATO air forces have been protecting the airspace of the Baltic countries since 2004. Alliance fighter jets are stationed at the Šiauliai and Ämari air bases in Lithuania and Estonia, respectively. Currently, Italian Air Force fighters are on duty at Ämari.

NATO experiment

From October 27 to November 7, the largest Alliance experiment on testing and researching new defense technologies is taking place in the Latvian city of Ādaži, as well as virtually across several NATO countries.

During the Digital Backbone Experiment (DiBaX) in Latvia, including the border area with Estonia, planned flights of unmanned aerial vehicles of various types and sizes will be conducted.

The experiment will focus primarily on the use of unmanned systems in complex operational conditions, as well as on applying artificial intelligence for target identification and situational awareness tasks.
