After the US elections, American billionaire Elon Musk began irritating the entourage of newly elected President Donald Trump. He is said to be acting like a co-president, NBC News reports.
Billionaire Elon Musk achieved a major victory when Trump announced that the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, would head the new Department of Government Efficiency.
According to the channel, this announcement further strengthened Musk’s closeness to Trump even after the election. However, for some people in Trump’s circle, Musk’s presence seems excessive.
Moreover, Musk is almost constantly present at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s residence in Palm Beach, where he participates in important meetings and calls.
Sources revealed that Musk’s nearly constant presence at Mar-a-Lago during the week following election day began to irritate people who had been part of Trump’s inner circle longer than he had, and who felt that he had overstepped his role in the transition.
"He’s behaving as if he’s a co-president and making sure everyone knows it… And he’s sure taking lots of credit for the president’s victory. Bragging about America PAC and X to anyone who will listen. He’s trying to make President Trump feel indebted to him. And the president is indebted to no one," one person said.
On the other hand, one source emphasized that Musk has “opinion on and about everything” and that he is so determined to share them that it began to annoy Trump’s insiders.
"He wants to be seen as having say in everything (even if he doesn’t)," the source said.
Trump's relationship with Musk
During the election campaign, Musk actively participated in supporting Trump. Moreover, in one state, Musk was allowed to pay one million dollars to undecided voters.
It’s important to note that this isn’t the first such statement regarding Musk’s influence on Trump. Earlier, it was reported that Musk had a significant impact on appointments within Trump’s team.
At the same time, media outlets reported that Musk was even present during the phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
It should be noted that yesterday, Trump appointed Musk as the head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency.
