Russian forces continue killing civilians even on the day of negotiations in Alaska. Moscow shows no signs that it is ready to end the war in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address.

Zelenskyy stated that he is receiving reports from intelligence and diplomats regarding preparations for the meeting in Alaska — about what the Russian President Vladimir Putin is bringing there. At the same time, reports are coming in from regions of Ukraine that came under Russian attacks on August 15.

"Sumy – a Russian strike on the central market. Dnipropetrovsk region – strikes on cities and industrial facilities. Zaporizhzhia, Kherson region, Donetsk region – deliberate Russian strikes. The war continues," Zelenskyy said.

The President emphasized that there are no signs that the Kremlin is preparing to end the war in Ukraine. On the day of negotiations in Alaska, the enemy continues to kill. This says a lot about the true intentions of the Russian regime and Putin.

"The day before, we discussed with the United States of America and with the Europeans what could really work. Everyone needs an honest end to the war. Ukraine is ready to work as productively as possible to end the war. We hope for a strong position from America. Everything will depend on that — the Russians respond to American strength. Strength — that's what they respond to," Zelenskyy concluded.

Russian strikes on August 15

On August 15, Russian forces attacked Sumy. A strike hit civilian infrastructure in the city center — the central city market came under attack. A fire broke out at the site of the strike.

Also, during the day on August 15, Russians attacked Dnipro with ballistic missiles. At least two explosions were heard. Preliminary reports indicate that Russian forces used Iskander-M missiles or their North Korean clones. The attack caused a fire. The State Emergency Service confirmed the death of one civilian and the injury of another, and released photos from the scene.

In the morning of August 15, Russians struck a civilian car parked at a gas station in Sumy region. The gas station building and the car were damaged, and the driver sustained burns.
