Most Ukrainians believe the United States has grown tired of the war and is pushing Ukraine toward concessions. At the same time, trust in support from Europe continues to rise, according to a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

According to the sociologists, 56% of respondents believe that the United States has grown tired of the war and is pressuring Kyiv to make concessions to Russia.

At the same time, 30% of citizens believe that the United States remains a reliable ally. Another 13% of respondents were unable to provide a clear answer.

Assessment of European support

The situation regarding European partners is viewed much more positively. A majority of Ukrainians (64%) believe that European countries continue to provide serious support to Ukraine and seek to end the war on fair terms.

At the same time, a quarter of respondents (25%) are convinced that European support has weakened and that Europe is also pushing Ukraine toward an unfair peace.

Compared with the beginning of the year, the level of trust in European countries has increased noticeably. In January 2026, 58% of Ukrainians considered Europeans to be reliable allies, while 35% of respondents said that Europe was growing tired of the war and that the volume of its assistance was declining.

The survey was conducted from May 7 to June 3, 2026, in the form of telephone interviews. In total, sociologists surveyed 1,000 respondents across all government-controlled regions of Ukraine.

61% of Ukrainians would support a ceasefire along the current front line — but only if Ukraine receives security guarantees, weapons, and financial support.

In addition, more than half of Ukrainians support the idea of involving the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the defense of several European countries if Russia attacks them.
