Missiles strike Kharkiv, targeting vital infrastructure, injuries confirmed

Russian forces attacked Kharkiv's critical infrastructure with missiles on the afternoon of January 17, causing casualties, according to Telegram posts from Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
"An enemy strike was recorded in the Industrial district of the city. We are clarifying the consequences," Terekhov said.
He added that the attack targeted a critical infrastructure facility and that there are casualties as a result of the Russian strike.
At the same time, Synegubov reported that one person was killed in the enemy strike. Medical teams are providing all necessary assistance to the injured.
Earlier, the Air Force had warned of a high-speed target approaching Kharkiv.
Attack on Ukraine on January 17
As a reminder, during the night of January 17, Russia launched 115 attack drones at Ukraine from multiple directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down 96 enemy drones.
At the same time, 16 strike drones hit 11 locations, and debris from downed drones fell in two additional locations.
Notably, an explosion of unknown origin occurred overnight in a multi-story building in Kharkiv. Casualties and injuries were reported.
Explosions were also heard in Kyiv, which was under attack by Russian drones.
In addition, Russian forces struck an energy facility in Odesa region, causing a fire and damage.
In Bucha district of Kyiv region, approximately 56,000 households were left without electricity due to a Russian attack.
In the morning, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with drones, causing a fire after hitting an infrastructure facility.
Moreover, Russian troops continue targeted attacks on enterprises of the Naftogaz Group. The enemy struck equipment used for natural gas production.
