Russia launches over 100 drones at Ukraine: How many were shot down

During the night of January 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with 115 attack drones from various directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down 96 enemy UAVs, according to the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Air Force.
According to the military, from 6:00 p.m. on January 16 until the morning of January 17, the enemy launched 115 attack drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, as well as UAVs of other types, from the directions of Millerovo, Kursk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Donetsk in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. About 75 of them were Shahed drones.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 07:30, air defense shot down or suppressed 96 enemy UAVs of the Shahed and Gerbera types, as well as drones of other types, in the north, south, and east of the country.
Hits by 16 attack drones were recorded at 11 locations, as well as the fall of downed drones (debris) at two locations.
"The attack is ongoing, several enemy UAVs remain in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety rules!" the Air Force warned.
Shelling of Ukraine
As a reminder, on the morning of Saturday, January 17, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with drones. As a result of the shelling, a fire broke out, and the occupiers hit an infrastructure facility.
During the night, an explosion of unknown origin occurred in a high-rise building in Kharkiv. Casualties and injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
Explosions were also heard in Kyiv. The capital is currently under attack by Russian drones.
On the night of January 16, Russian troops also attacked Ukraine with attack UAVs of various types. Most of the enemy targets were destroyed by air defense forces.
