Russian forces struck an energy facility in Odesa region overnight on January 17. A fire broke out and damage was reported.

This was reported by the Telegram channels of Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper and the State Emergency Service (SES).

"Overnight, the enemy carried out another cynical strike on the energy infrastructure of Odesa region. Damage was recorded at one of the facilities, and a fire broke out," Kiper said.

He added that there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the enemy strike.

The response and elimination of the consequences are ongoing. Critical infrastructure and essential services are operating normally.

According to the SES, a building and vehicles were also damaged. The fire has now been extinguished.

The SES deployed 10 units of equipment and over 30 rescuers to respond to the incident.

Shelling of Ukraine on January 17

As a reminder, overnight on January 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with 115 attack drones from various directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down 96 enemy UAVs.

Hits by 16 attack drones were recorded at 11 locations, and debris from downed drones fell at two other locations.

In the morning, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with drones. The shelling caused a fire after the occupiers hit an infrastructure facility.

During the night, an explosion of unknown origin occurred in a high-rise building in Kharkiv. Casualties and injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

Explosions were also heard in Kyiv. The capital was under attack by Russian drones.
