On the night of November 14, the Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine. The enemy used Shahed drones, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and even Kinzhal missiles, with Kyiv as the main target today.

Everything known about the combined Russian attack on Ukraine is detailed below in the RBC-Ukraine report.

Key questions:

  • Shahed drones entered Ukraine in groups;
  • Many drones were heading toward Kyiv;
  • During the night, alongside the drone attack, the enemy also launched cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and Kinzhal missiles.

How Russia attacked

Shahed drones

According to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the first drones entered Ukraine after 17:00 Kyiv time. They were detected in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions.

After that, the number of Shahed drones in Ukrainian airspace increased every hour. Starting at 21:37, the first report appeared specifically about a group of drones—they were flying in the Kherson region, either toward or past Nikopol.

A little later, new groups of drones entered Ukraine, and by 23:59, the UAVs were flying toward Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Poltava. However, Kyiv became the primary target of the enemy.

Cruise missiles, Kinzhal, and ballistic missiles

With the arrival of the new day, Friday, November 14, monitoring channels reported the launch of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea.

At 00:19, the information was confirmed by the Ukrainian Air Forces. At least one missile was detected near the border of Mykolaiv and Kirovohrad regions. Later, the number of missiles increased, and by 01:04, the cruise missiles changed course toward the Kyiv region.

During the same period, at 00:26, the military recorded the takeoff of MiG-31K aircraft carrying aeroballistic Kinzhal missiles. Shortly afterward, high-speed targets were detected heading toward Kyiv. The Air Force did not specify whether these were Kinzhal missiles, but most likely they were.

A little later, at 00:58, the Air Forces reported the launch of ballistic missiles toward Kyiv. Half an hour later, ballistic missiles were again heading toward the capital.

Kyiv under attack

Summing up the above, it can be concluded that the primary target of today’s Russian attack was Kyiv.

In the capital, from around 00:00 until 4 a.m., there were powerful explosions, the sounds of drones, missile overflights, and air defense operations.

It is currently known that the enemy attacked almost all districts of the capital. In many areas, fires have been reported in high-rise buildings, and more than a dozen people have already been injured.

In addition, there have been disruptions to electricity, heating, and water supply.
