Due to the latest Russian attack on Dnipro, the number of casualties has risen to seven killed, with around 70 injured, including ten children, Serhii Lysak, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reports.

Five of the injured are in critical condition. Doctors are continuing to fight for their lives.

The numbers are not final and are still being clarified, as the scale of destruction is significant.

According to local authorities, the death toll could have been much higher if not for the fact that many people managed to reach shelters during the air raid alert, which saved dozens of lives.

"That's why I once again stress: don't ignore air raid alerts. Always go to a safe place," Lysak emphasized.

There are also reports of the consequences of an enemy strike on Samara, where at least nine people were injured - most of whom were hospitalized. Four are in critical condition.

Attack on Dnipro

On the morning of June 24, during an air raid alert, a series of explosions rocked the city of Dnipro. Ukrainian Air Force reported detecting two ballistic missiles heading toward the city.

The Russians hit residential areas, and a passenger train, No. 52 Odesa–Zaporizhzhia, was damaged - the blast wave shattered windows in the train car, though there was no direct hit.

The attack caused severe damage to:

  • 14 schools and kindergartens;
  • a dormitory;
  • a gymnasium;
  • a city hospital and polyclinic;
  • an administrative building;
  • as well as 19 schools and 10 kindergartens - almost all suffered either direct hits or shattered windows.

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov had earlier confirmed 1 death and over 20 injuries, including two teenagers: a 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy with moderate injuries.

The strike also caused a fire, destroyed apartment buildings, private homes, and several vehicles.

Emergency services, medics, and police are working at the site. All train passengers were evacuated to shelters, and the railway company organized replacement train cars and an additional train for their transfer.
