Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Dnipro today. Buildings, hospitals, and schools in the city have been destroyed. There are casualties.

RBC-Ukraine has compiled everything known about the consequences of the Russian ballistic missile strike on Dnipro.

Passenger train damaged

As RBC-Ukraine was told by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, preliminary information indicates that the train was damaged by a blast wave during the Russian attack.

"During the Russian attack on Dnipro, a blast wave preliminarily hit the train,' the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.

Ukrainian Railways confirmed that train No. 52, which runs on the Odesa-Zaporizhzhia route, was damaged during the Russian attack.

"Rescuers and ambulance crews arrived at the scene quickly. Passengers were quickly taken to shelters, as the air raid alert in the region continues," the statement says.

Ukrainian Railways specified that there were no casualties among passengers and railway workers on train No. 52 Odesa-Zaporizhzhia, which was hit by a Russian ballistic missile.

"Passengers who were injured are receiving medical assistance. To transport passengers to Zaporizhzhia, Ukrzaliznytsia has assigned an additional electric train, which will depart from Dnipro at approximately 1 p.m. Kyiv time," the company says.

At the same time, the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, showed a video of the aftermath of the Russian strike on Dnipro and the damaged passenger train.

"The Odesa-Zaporizhzhia train was damaged as a result of a Russian ballistic missile strike on Dnipro. A civilian train, ordinary people. Russians are terrorists masquerading as a state solely to kill and enrich themselves through war," he wrote.

Destruction in Dnipro

Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that a fire broke out in Dnipro as a result of the Russian attack. Civilian infrastructure was damaged, including a dormitory, a gymnasium, and an administrative building.

"Russia also hit the city of Samar. We are clarifying the details. Unfortunately, there are people killed and injured everywhere," he wrote.

At the same time, the mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov, reported that 14 schools and kindergartens were damaged after another Russian strike on Dnipro.

In addition, the city hospital and polyclinic were also damaged, and there is significant destruction in the private sector.

"Preliminary reports indicate one killed. It has also been confirmed that train No. 52 Odesa-Zaporizhzhia was hit," he wrote.

At 1 p.m. Kyiv time, Lysak clarified that there is currently one known killed and over 20 injured in Dnipro. Among them are 2 children, a 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy. They have been hospitalized in moderate condition.

Mayor Borys Filatov specified that 19 schools, 10 kindergartens, a vocational school, and a music school were damaged as a result of the Russian attack.

3 extracurricular institutions, the social welfare department, 8 medical institutions: a hospital, clinics, and a dental clinic were also damaged.

"We are clarifying the consequences of the destruction in the residential sector," he said.

Changes in transport

Local authorities report that temporary changes have been made to public transport:

  • trams No. 5, No. 18, and No. 19 have suspended service;
  • buses No. 86 and No. 141 are operating on a detour route: Svobody Avenue - Akademika Belelyubskogo Street - Pavlova Street;
  • Buses No. 156 and No. 156A are detouring according to the following route: Svobody Avenue - Akademika Beleliubskoho Street - Pavlova Street - Nihoyan Avenue - Ivan Mazepa Avenue.

"Due to traffic jams on Akademika Beleliubskoho Street and Pavlova Street, bus intervals may be significantly increased. The return of routes to normal operation will be announced separately," the statement said.

In the morning, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that a total of 97 kamikaze drones had been launched by Russia, most of which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces.
