Military aid to Ukraine: Italy is against use of its weapons for strikes against RF
The weapons provided by Italy to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of military assistance can only be used within the borders of Ukraine, stated Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy.
"All the military materiel we send is destined to be used only inside the territory of Ukraine. We don't give materiel that can be used beyond Ukraine's borders," said Tajani.
He also commented on the statement by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine.
"NATO's decisions are taken by NATO and we are part of NATO, We are not at war with Russia and we are against sending troops to fight against the Russians," noted the Italian Foreign Minister.
Italy's assistance to Ukraine
At the end of February this year, Italy and Ukraine signed an agreement on security guarantees, which envisages the provision of "economic, diplomatic, and military assistance."
Also, the Italian news agency La Repubblica reported that the Italian government plans to approve the ninth package of assistance to Ukraine in June, which will include, among other things, the SAMP/T system.
Recently, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto announced that his country will soon approve a new package of military assistance for Ukraine.
