Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Russia is deliberately redirecting Ukrainian drones toward the Baltic states in order to use such incidents for propaganda purposes. According to him, Ukraine has intelligence data confirming this, the foreign minister made this statement at a press conference with the EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
"We have intelligence data indicating that the Russians are intentionally diverting drones toward the Baltic states in order to use these incidents for their informational purposes and for propaganda," he said.
The diplomat emphasized that Ukraine, together with its partners, must jointly respond to this and not allow Moscow to take advantage of such situations.
"I am grateful to all our Baltic partners, as well as the Finns, who together with us clearly state: the cause of these incidents lies with Russia. It is Russia’s war that has created all these threats, and it is Russia that must be compelled to make peace," he concluded.
On March 29, several drones violated Finnish airspace and crashed in the southeastern part of the country. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo confirmed that the drones that entered the country’s territory were Ukrainian.
According to him, the drone crashes were recorded near the city of Kouvola, close to the border with Russia. Authorities reported that there were no casualties, and the drones were not shot down — they fell on their own.
Following this, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "under no circumstances were Ukrainian drones directed toward Finland." Kyiv suggested that the drones may have crashed due to the operation of Russian electronic warfare systems.
