Media reveal Putin’s latest demands for ending war against Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has put forward new demands for ending the war against Ukraine, Reuters reports.
According to sources familiar with the Kremlin’s position, Putin’s new proposal insists that Kyiv withdraw its forces from the parts of Donbas that are still under Ukrainian control. In return, Moscow is ready to freeze the current front line in the south, in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
At the same time, Russia has reportedly agreed to give up small areas in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions that it currently occupies.
Despite this, the differences between the sides remain critical. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine will not abandon its internationally recognized territories and will not withdraw from Donbas, which serves as a fortress holding back Russian forces.
"If we're talking about simply withdrawing from the east, we cannot do that. It is a matter of our country's survival," he said.
Zelenskyy also reminded that Ukraine’s path to NATO membership is enshrined in the Constitution, and only Ukraine and the Alliance will decide it, not Russia.
The White House and NATO have so far declined to comment. Meanwhile, experts emphasize that the Kremlin’s demand for Ukraine to withdraw from Donbas is absolutely unacceptable for Kyiv, both politically and strategically.
Kremlin’s demands
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, outlined a set of conditions for ending the war against Ukraine, including territorial concessions.
According to Reuters, Moscow is prepared to give up part of the occupied lands in Kharkiv and Sumy regions, while demanding that Ukraine cede territories in the east, particularly in the Donetsk region.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his talks with Trump, did not rule out discussing the issue but stressed that any decision on a possible territorial exchange must take into account the will of the Ukrainian people.
