Man with shotgun targets Trump's Florida residence

US Secret Service agents shot and killed an armed man who tried to breach the grounds of President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, according to US Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi and CBS News journalist Jennifer Jacobs.

The incident occurred on the morning of February 22. The identity of the armed man has not been released; it is only known that he was 20 years old.
The man, carrying a shotgun and a canister of fuel, was spotted near the north gates of the residence. Secret Service agents and a deputy sheriff made contact with him, which escalated into a confrontation.
Law enforcement officers opened fire during the clash. No Secret Service personnel or deputies were injured.

Authorities note that the residence was empty at the time of the shooting. Trump is currently in Washington.
Attack on Trump
Earlier, in September 2024, Ryan Routh positioned himself with a weapon near the golf course at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, intending to shoot the president during his campaign.
Routh, who attempted to assassinate Trump at the Florida golf course, was later sentenced to life in prison.
Previously, on July 13, 2024, Thomas Matthew Crooks fired at Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, wounding him in the ear.
