The leaders of the UK and France will cooperate with US President Donald Trump as he prepares for his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Office of the Prime Minister of the UK.

It is noted that on Saturday, August 9, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The leaders discussed the latest developments in Ukraine and reaffirmed their steadfast support for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace for the Ukrainian people.

Specifically, Starmer and Macron welcomed President Trump's efforts to stop the killings in Ukraine and end Russia's military aggression.

"They discussed how to further work closely with President Trump and President Zelenskyy over the coming days. They agreed to stay in close contact," the statement from the office of the UK Prime Minister said.

Negotiations between the Presidents of the US and Russia

Possible talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine are scheduled for August 15 in Alaska.

Before announcing this meeting, Trump stated that Ukraine and Russia would likely have to exchange territories.

According to media reports, Putin may demand that Trump recognize the occupied territories as Russian in exchange for the de-occupation of other seized areas.

However, the European side and official Kyiv have rejected this Putin plan and proposed their peace initiative.

President Zelenskyy stated that the issue of territorial integrity is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine, and Kyiv does not intend to give up its territories to the aggressor.
