The newly elected Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Saulius Skvernelis, had a phone conversation with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk. During the conversation, the Speaker emphasized that cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow, Delfi reports.

During a session on Thursday evening, Skvernelis informed the members of the Seimas about Lithuania's continued unwavering support for Ukraine.

"Our cooperation (with Ukraine) will only grow. And Lithuania, as it was, is, and will remain, an unwavering supporter of Ukraine," Skvernelis said.

He emphasized that he did so with honor. The newly elected Speaker also noted that he had conveyed the best wishes from the newly elected Seimas to Ukraine.

Lithuanian assistance to Ukraine

Earlier this month, Lithuania's Minister of Defense, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, announced further military assistance to Ukraine.

He mentioned that Lithuania would send a new batch of military aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The country will also continue supporting Ukraine in the coming year.

In addition, Ukraine and Lithuania have previously signed a memorandum on the joint production of drones, ammunition, and electronic warfare (EW) systems.
