Lithuania plans to invest €21 million in the development of Ukrainian education. In particular, a modern school hub will be built in Zhytomyr, according to Ukraine's Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi.

"Today, a strategic memorandum was signed with the Lithuanian government, providing for €21 million in targeted investments for the recovery and development of Ukrainian education," said the Minister of Education and Science.

According to him, the funds are planned to be distributed as follows:

  • €17 million for the construction of a modern school hub in Zhytomyr, which will serve as an example of a safe, inclusive, and innovative learning environment for children;

  • €3 million for the installation of solar energy systems in schools and kindergartens across seven regions, aimed at reducing dependence on traditional energy sources and ensuring the autonomy of educational institutions during crises;

  • €1 million for educational catch-up programs and STEAM learning initiatives in the Odesa region.

Lisovyi noted that the agreement is the result of preparatory work carried out by Ukraine and its partners ahead of the ongoing Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.
