Ukraine and Belgium have signed their first investment document at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome. Its goal is to support Ukrainian business, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot signed a letter of intent. It outlines that the Belgian company BIO Invest and Bank Lviv will conclude a €5 million agreement.

"This is about trust and confidence — confidence in our future. That's why such agreements are extremely important, and I am sincerely grateful for them," Sybiha stated.

The ministry explained that the funds will be directed toward the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine. This is a key segment of the economy that plays a crucial role in job creation and strengthening national stability.

What Belgium says

The Belgian Embassy in Ukraine stated that this will be the first step into the Ukrainian market for the investment company BIO Invest.

"Defending a country also means defending its economy. A strong economy is a shield — it protects livelihoods, sustains public services, and gives people a reason to stay, rebuild, and believe in the future," said the Belgian Foreign Minister.

The embassy also clarified that BIO Invest plans to invest an additional €20 million in key sectors such as green energy, sustainable agriculture, and financial services.

Ukraine Recovery Conference
