Czechia's initiative on ammunition for Ukraine

Czech President Petr Pavel last month announced that his country had found 800,000 artillery shells available for purchase for Ukraine. He clarified that funding was needed for this.

The ammunition is to be purchased outside the European Union. This was a contingency plan as the bloc failed to deliver its promise to transfer a million shells to Ukrainian defenders by March.

Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Denmark, Canada, and France have already supported such a plan by Czechia.

In particular, on March 6, Germany announced the allocation of a three-digit million sum for the purchase of ammunition.

Ammunition is currently one of the main needs of the Ukrainian military. Recently, due to a lack of shells, our fighters had to retreat from Avdiivka, resulting in the loss of several more settlements.

Today it became known that Czechia has raised funds to purchase 800,000 artillery shells for Ukraine. Eighteen more countries will join the fundraising initiative initiated by Czechia.
