Latvia doesn't rule out sending troops to Ukraine if NATO decides
Latvia will consider sending troops to Ukraine if there is a corresponding agreement between NATO allies, according to Tagesschau.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of the Baltic country says in a comment to the media that Latvia does not oppose the deployment of Western ground troops in Ukraine.
"Latvia continues to consider many different options to strengthen its support for Ukraine," he says.
The spokesperson adds that if there is a corresponding NATO decision, Latvia will consider such a possibility.
"If there is an agreement between NATO allies to send troops to Ukraine, Latvia will consider participating," the Latvian representative adds.
What preceded it
French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out that NATO would send troops to help Ukraine. The main problem, he said, is that there is currently no consensus on this issue.
Some NATO countries have already opposed this idea, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Spain, and Italy.
At the same time, some countries are ready to consider this possibility, such as Lithuania.
