Last aid package to Ukraine was 'unique circumstance,' no new assistance likely, Pentagon
The United States will not be able to provide another military aid package to Ukraine as it did two days ago because that was a "unique circumstance," states Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh.
She has described the allocation of the latest $300 million aid package to Ukraine as a "unique circumstance." The official also adds that military assistance to Ukraine is related to the need for emergency support to the Armed Forces.
According to Singh, the Pentagon has no information about the possibility of repeating it.
US aid to Ukraine
For several months now, the US Congress has been unable to approve new funding for aid to Ukraine to continue supplying weapons and more. This situation is due to differences between Republicans and Democrats on border security funding, which is included in the assistance package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
Recently, the Senate passed a separate bill with funds for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. For it to take effect, the document still needs to be approved by the House of Representatives and signed by the president.
As CNN reported, the House of Representatives may vote on financial aid to Ukraine at the end of March or in April.
Recently, the US administration announced the allocation of a new $300 million military aid package to Ukraine. This is the first military aid package to Ukraine from the US since December 2023.
Later, White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan stated that the new package became possible "because of unanticipated cost savings in contracts that DOD negotiated to replace equipment we’ve already sent to Ukraine through previous drawdowns."
