White House announces $300 million aid package for Ukraine
The administration of the President of the United States will allocate a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $300 million, announces White House representative Jake Sullivan.
According to Sullivan, the new package of military aid to Ukraine will include artillery shells and GMLRS rockets for HIMARS, among other things.
Meanwhile, the White House has appealed to the US Congress to swiftly pass legislation to allocate funding to support Ukraine. Sullivan reiterated President Biden's words that "the clock is ticking," and Ukraine needs assistance right now.
This is the first package of military aid to Ukraine from the US since December 2023.
US assistance to Ukraine
The US Congress has been unable to approve new funding for assistance to Ukraine for several months, in order to continue supplying weapons and more. This situation is due to differences between Republicans and Democrats regarding border protection funding, which is included in the assistance package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
Recently, the Senate passed a separate bill with funds for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. For it to take effect, the document still needs to be approved by the House of Representatives and signed by the president.
As CNN reported, the House of Representatives might vote on financial assistance to Ukraine at the end of March or in April.
New package may include ATACMS
Today, Politico wrote that the new package of military aid to Ukraine from the US may include several long-range ATACMS missiles.
However, the US Department of Defense has not yet released a detailed list of weapons that will be included in the new support package. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that the missiles may be transferred to Ukraine without prior announcement.
