US President Donald Trump believes that a successful meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would bring peace closer, the American leader said.

Trump was asked whether the United States could consider anything less than a complete and immediate ceasefire as a victory following his meeting with Putin.

In response, the President called such a question "not a good" one.

"I would say that tomorrow all I want to do is set the table for the next meeting (with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy), which should happen shortly. I'd like to see it happen very quickly, very shortly after this meeting," the American leader clarified.

Trump added that he would like such a meeting to take place in Alaska, where he and Putin could remain. That would be much easier.

"I think it's going to be very interesting. We're going to find out where everybody stands and I'll know within the first two minutes, three minutes, four minutes or five minutes like we tend to find out uh whether or not we're going to have a good meeting or a bad meeting. And if it's a bad meeting, it'll end very quickly. And if it's a good meeting, we're going to end up getting peace in the pretty near future," the American leader specified.

Trump's meeting with Putin

US President Donald Trump will personally meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin tomorrow, August 15.

Earlier, he stated that a good outcome of the meeting could be a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

He also stressed that he would not make agreements during such a meeting, as peace must be negotiated between Kyiv and Moscow.
