Kyiv under massive drone and missile attack, casualties and damage reported

Kyiv came under a massive combined drone and missile attack overnight on June 17. Explosions were heard across the city, and authorities reported casualties.

Solomianskyi district
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the upper floor of a residential building was damaged. Drone debris also hit the premises of an industrial facility. He reported 11 injured, with 6 hospitalized. Meanwhile, 9 injuries are reported.
As reported by the acting rector of the Kyiv Aviation Institute, Kseniia Semenova, on social media, a dormitory of the university was damaged as a result of the attack on Kyiv. Everyone is alive, but there are injuries.
Dniprovskyi district
Emergency teams were dispatched. A Shahed drone fragment got lodged in a residential building’s wall.
Damage to an industrial area has also been reported.
Obolonskyi district
Medical crews responded. A vehicle was damaged in the area.
Sviatoshynskyi district
Cars caught fire, and warehouse buildings were ablaze. Klitschko confirmed 9 injuries, 4 of whom were hospitalized.
A residential building was also damaged.
Darnytskyi district
Debris was falling at two locations, one of which saw a fire. Medics were dispatched.
In addition, a kindergarten was damaged.
Podilskyi district
Drone debris landed in an open area.
Shevchenkivskyi district
According to Klitschko, a fire was reported on the upper floors of a residential building.
Power outages
Power cuts were recorded in the Holosiivskyi private sector and Darnytskyi Chervonyi Khutir area due to automatic shutdowns.
Russia also launched two Tu-95MS bombers from Olenya airfield in Murmansk and a MiG-31K fighter jet, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
