Kyiv under attack: Explosions and drone takedowns reported

In Kyiv, on the night of May 25, explosions were heard amid an enemy attack involving kamikaze drones. Air defense operations are underway in the capital, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko.
Explosions near the Kyiv area were heard around 12:40 a.m. Kyiv time. There were several, occurring one after another.
The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that air defense systems were active in the capital. This information was confirmed by the mayor.
“Explosions in the city. Air defense forces are active. The capital is under attack by enemy drones. Do not neglect your safety! Stay in shelters!” — reads the statement from the mayor on Telegram.
The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration clarified that more than ten enemy drones have been detected in the airspace around Kyiv, and new ones are also approaching.
“We have already engaged some of the drones over Kyiv and its outskirts. But targets are still approaching the capital. The night will be difficult. There is a threat of the enemy using a large number of drones and missiles launched from strategic aviation,” the official said.
He also urged Kyiv residents to take the threat as seriously as possible and stay in shelters.
New air attack on Kyiv
As reported earlier, on the night of May 25, an air raid alert was declared in the capital due to the threat of ballistic missiles as well as enemy kamikaze drones. The Kyiv City Military Administration also stated that the city is under yet another attack.
The Ukrainian Air Forces reported detecting enemy drones moving toward Kyiv, and local authorities warned of possible air defense activity. It’s also noted that strike drones were being shot down in the Kyiv region that night.
This current air attack on the capital follows yesterday’s massive combined night assault, during which Russian forces struck Kyiv with around two hundred kamikaze drones and nine ballistic missiles.
As a result of the attacks and falling debris from aerial targets, civilian infrastructure in Kyiv was damaged, including residential buildings, schools, a medical facility, and a shopping center. Overall, 14 people were injured in various districts of the capital. More details about the consequences of the combined attack on Kyiv can be found in the article by RBC-Ukraine.
