Russian strike hits Kyiv: 9 buildings, schools and medical center damaged

As a result of a nighttime Russian attack, residential buildings, schools, and a medical facility in Kyiv sustained damage. Recovery efforts are currently underway, according to the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, on Telegram.
Authorities in Kyiv are continuing to assess the consequences of Russia’s combined overnight attack. As of now, varying degrees of damage have been recorded in nine residential buildings. Explosions shattered windows in numerous apartments.
Twenty-six vehicles were also damaged across three districts of the capital. In the Solomianskyi district, power lines were affected.
Consequences of the attack
The shelling caused damage to social infrastructure. Two schools were damaged in the Dniprovskyi and Obolonskyi districts, and a polyclinic building was hit in the Podilskyi district. In the Solomianskyi district, an Ukrposhta post office branch and a boiler facility were also affected.
According to the latest data, the number of injured in Kyiv is 14 — fewer than previously reported. The situation remains dynamic and is being monitored by the relevant authorities.
Cleanup efforts at the sites of destruction are ongoing, including the removal of construction debris and glass. Broken windows have already started to be replaced, and those affected are seeking assistance from special support centers.
Rescue teams continue to locate fragments of downed Russian missiles and drones. Kyiv residents are urged not to touch suspicious objects and to immediately report them by calling 101.
Attack on Kyiv
On the evening of May 23, Ukrainian military detected movement of enemy strike drones toward the capital. Shahed drones were spotted over Kyiv region, and explosions were heard in the city and surrounding areas as air defense forces responded.
By the night of May 24, Russia launched one of the largest attacks on Kyiv, simultaneously using ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones. According to the Air Forces, 14 ballistic missiles of the Iskander-M/KN-23 type and 250 strike drones were launched across Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed 6 missiles and shot down 245 drones.
In Kyiv, debris from enemy targets fell in six districts. Among them, a residential building and the Blockbuster Mall shopping center in the Obolonskyi district were damaged.
